Locum Consultant in General Internal Medicine

Fixed Term - 9 months

Whipps Cross Hospital

We are excited to welcome a dynamic Locum Consultant in General Medicine with good general medical experience and the ability to work closely with the MDT and specialty colleagues as necessary to ensure efficient patient journeys, and high-quality care to join our enthusiastic and dynamic group of Physicians at Whipps Cross Hospital.

If the right applicant has a concurrent specialty CCT, we could discuss the option of some potential clinic/procedural time depending on specialty and service cover, this would be subject to negotiation.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to expand our medical workforce within the medical teams to cover our general medical wards and a variable number of medical outliers in other zones as the need arises over winter with 2 consultants.

These would be relatively short stay patients so would need dynamic individuals with good general medical experience and ability to work closely with the MDT and specialty colleagues as necessary to ensure efficient patient journeys and high-quality care. The right applicant would need to provide good clinical supervision and support of a team of resident doctors, but not formal educational supervision.

As part of the transformation of Whipps Cross Hospital there is an ongoing review of the medical bed base within the hospital. The successful post holders will have an opportunity to contribute to the review of the clinical speciality that the general medical wards are currently aligned to with a view to substantive appointment in the future.
