M&E Estimator Location: Flexible/Office & Site Based (London) Are you an experienced M&E Estimator looking to join a growing business delivering high-quality commercial projects? We're seeking a motivated and commercially minded M&E Estimator to become a key part of our pre-construction team. You'll play an integral role in producing accurate, competitive tenders for Mechanical & Electrical projects valued up to £2 million, working closely with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal delivery teams. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong estimating experience who enjoys working in a collaborative environment and wants to contribute to winning exciting commercial projects. The Role As an M&E Estimator, you'll be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates, managing tender enquiries and supporting the successful delivery of competitive bids from initial enquiry through to project handover. Working alongside our Building Estimator and M&E Contract Managers, you'll help develop commercially sound solutions while identifying value engineering opportunities and supporting supplier selection. Key Responsibilities - Prepare accurate and competitive M&E tender submissions for projects up to £2 million. - Produce first-principles estimates and detailed cost plans. - Develop prime cost plans covering all aspects of project scope. - Calculate preliminary costs required to deliver projects successfully. - Review drawings, specifications and scopes of work to prepare accurate take-offs. - Issue enquiries to suppliers and subcontractors and obtain competitive quotations. - Analyse quotations to ensure compliance with project specifications. - Carry out site visits and surveys where required to support tender submissions. - Meet with clients, consultants and supply chain partners to discuss project requirements. - Work closely with the Building Estimating team to produce coordinated bids. - Produce transparent cost breakdowns, including prime costs and applied margins. - Support supplier negotiations and value engineering exercises. - Assist with supply chain management and tender close-out procedures. - Ensure estimates are delivered on time and to the highest level of accuracy. About You You'll be an experienced M&E Estimator with excellent commercial awareness and the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously. You'll also have: * A minimum of 5 years' experience in an M&E estimating role. * Experience working for an M&E contractor on commercial projects. * Proven experience preparing tenders up to approximately £2 million. * Experience using estimating software and digital take-off packages. * Strong knowledge of first-principles estimating. * Experience measuring and costing against the National Schedule of Rates (NSR). * Excellent analytical and numerical skills. * Strong organisational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Confidence working with clients, consultants and subcontractors. * A proactive, collaborative and solution-focused approach. Qualifications & Experience Essential - Relevant Estimating or Construction qualification. - HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical, Mechanical or Building Services Engineering. - Knowledge of MTC, JCT and NEC forms of contract. - Experience supporting contract bids and pricing against specifications and NSR schedules.
