We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our team. In this role you will work as part of a busy Facilities and Estates team, you will undertake both reactive and planned maintenance tasks to a high standard in order to support smooth running of day-to-day college operations and you will support mandatory compliance programme and emergency response activities.

work as a member of the Facilities team, undertaking regular maintenance and repairs, as well as providing first line support across all college sites, liaising with Contractors where necessary.
assist with the planning specification of minor projects, alterations and improvements and subsequently carry out relevant carpentry and joinery work to fittings and furniture to a high standard, as appropriate
include the renovation and refurbishment of buildings which might include but not limited to: internal or external repairs or replacement of windows, doors and doorways, ceilings, floors, walls plaster and drywall, painting building structures, erecting partition walls, inserting vision panels and installing worktop benching for classrooms etc
This might include fabric repairs but also supporting basic electrical and mechanical tasks, basic plumbing and heating tasks (eg dealing with leaks, blocked drains, etc) as required across all campuses and satellite sites, sometimes working in partnership with college departments or external contractors.
maintain a clear workshop space, keep an up-to-date inventory of tools and power equipment and ensure they are kept in good repair in line with current legislation
review and carry out necessary preventative works in line with the Colleges Fire Risk Assessment and to ensure that records are up to date to comply with regulations.
Extensive experience of proactive working within a facilities maintenance environment
Working knowledge and experience of associated trades within a maintenance role
Experience of assessing risk in the workplace, completing health and safety risk assessments and method statements
An understanding of relevant buildings risks including fire, asbestos, legionella, etc
Able to quickly interpret operations and maintenance manuals
NVQ Level 3 in relevant trade (e.g. Carpentry and joinery)
Minimum of Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics GCSE 4+ or C and above / CSE Level 1 / O-Level C or above / Level 2 Adult Numeracy or Literacy or equivalent
