Are you an electrically biased engineer who wants to develop further intoPLCs, controls and automationwithout having to move into a full Controls Engineer role straight away?
This is an opportunity to join a well-established manufacturing site that is prepared toinvest in your development, including further PLC and controls training, while giving you exposure to a broad range of electrical maintenance work.
The role would particularly suit someone who has recently completed an electrical apprenticeship or is still relatively early in their maintenance career and wants a genuine route to develop their technical capability.
The Role
Youll work as part of the site engineering team on a regular days pattern, supporting everything from routine electrical maintenance and testing through to breakdowns, instrumentation and increasingly complex controls work as your experience develops.
Typical responsibilities will include:
Planned and reactive electrical maintenance
Electrical fault-finding and breakdown support
Motors, drives, sensors and instrumentation
Testing, calibration and electrical inspections
Control panels and electrical installations
PLC-controlled machinery
Supporting continuous improvement activity
Developing further into PLC diagnostics and controls
Occasional out-of-hours support when required
What Theyre Looking For

They are more interested in someone with a strong electrical foundation, the right attitude and the ambition to develop.
Ideally, you will have:
Completed an electrical apprenticeship
Level 3 electrical qualification or equivalent
Industrial electrical maintenance experience
18th Edition
Experience fault-finding on production machinery
Exposure to motors, drives, sensors or PLC-controlled equipment
A genuine interest in developing further into PLCs and controls
Package
£40,000 basic salary

Business performance bonus of up to 5%
26 days holiday plus bank holidays
Contributory pension
Discounted medical and dental insurance
Funded technical development, including PLC/controls training
Working Hours

Friday:8:00am 2:00pm
A level of flexibility is required to support occasional out-of-hours callouts.
Why Consider It? The real opportunity here is progression.
Rather than expecting you to arrive as the finished article, the business wants someone with solid electrical fundamentals who they candevelop further into PLCs, controls and automation.
If youre currently working shifts or feel youve hit a ceiling in a basic electrical maintenance role, this gives you the chance to move onto regular days while adding valuable controls skills to your engineering background.
