An established UK manufacturing business is looking to appoint an experienced
Maintenance & Reliability Manager
to strengthen its engineering function and drive improvements in asset performance, equipment reliability and production efficiency. This is a senior, hands-on opportunity for an engineer who enjoys working where
maintenance, manufacturing, data and continuous improvement
come together. Youll play a key role in improving the reliability of critical production assets, reducing unplanned downtime and developing a more proactive approach to maintenance across a multi-site manufacturing environment. The Role Working closely with engineering, production and quality teams, youll use maintenance data, engineering knowledge and structured problem-solving techniques to identify recurring failures and deliver sustainable improvements. Your responsibilities will include: Developing and delivering a long-term maintenance and reliability strategy Analysing equipment performance, downtime, failure trends and maintenance data Identifying critical assets and reducing operational risk Leading root cause analysis and failure elimination programmes Developing reliability-centred maintenance and FMEA-based approaches Improving planned preventative maintenance and asset care programmes Introducing and developing condition-based and predictive maintenance techniques Establishing robust maintenance standards and procedures Using CMMS information and KPIs to identify trends and improvement opportunities Working with production teams to improve machine availability and output Supporting Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement activity Coaching and developing maintenance engineers in reliability-focused practices Providing engineering leadership and management support across multiple manufacturing locations when required About You Youll be an experienced
multi-skilled engineer, maintenance professional or reliability specialist
with a strong background in a manufacturing environment. Were particularly interested in people with experience of automated or high-volume manufacturing, although experience from other complex production environments will be considered. Youll ideally have: Engineering qualification to
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent Strong multi-skilled engineering experience Previous experience in
maintenance, reliability or engineering Experience leading or influencing maintenance teams A strong understanding
of preventative and predictive maintenance Experience with
RCA, FMEA, RCM or similar reliability methodologies Experience using maintenance systems, CMMS data and engineering KPIs Exposure to
Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement Strong analytical and numerical skills Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities A practical, collaborative and solutions-focused approach Good organisation and time-management skills A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites Lean Six Sigma training or qualification would be advantageous.
