Where will you be working?


At M Group Energy, were enabling the energy essential to support our lives.


We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation.


This role will be within our Electricity Transmission team. We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity.
This role is working on our SSE OHL projects around the Aberdeen area.

What will you be doing?


As aManaging Quantity Surveyor, youll be part of our Overhead Lines Commercial Team who are responsible for actively assisting the Commercial Department and project team to maximise profit and reduce risk.This is a key role requiring strong commercial acumen, excellent stakeholder management skills, and experience of delivering infrastructure or utility projects!
  • Support the preparation of reports, claims, and commercial documentation within agreed timescales while maintaining strong relationships with Business Unit and Project Managers

Monitor project risks, maintain risk registers, and ensure effective subcontractor and supplier management, including quotations, valuations, variations, claims, and final accounts

Assist in managing compensation events, contract costs, and project profitability through identification of variations, delays, and claims

Contribute to financial reporting, forecasting, and process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy

Attend project meetings, develop commercial records and manuals, and work closely with commercial and project teams

Ensure compliance with company procedures and Health & Safety, Quality, and Environmental policies, undertaking additional duties as required to support business and customer needs


What youll bring

  • Knowledge of the Electrical Transmission / Overhead Lines industry would be preferred

Excellent negotiating interpersonal & communication skills

Analytical skills

Financial awareness

Excellent IT skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.

Contract costing

Contract law (NEC3 / 4)

Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying or Cost Clerk role

Contract experience, capturing site records for variations and valuations; supporting a project team

Subcontract Management

Cost / value reconciliation

Qualification in Quantity Surveying

Graduate or graduate calibre

Full UK driving license willingness to travel / stay away where required
