We're supporting a leading UK advanced engineering and defence manufacturer as they continue to invest in new products, manufacturing capability and production systems. As part of this growth, we're looking for an experienced Manufacturing Project Engineer to lead the delivery of complex engineering and manufacturing projects from concept through to production and customer acceptance.


This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role within a highly regulated environment, working alongside engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain and customer teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.


The Role


You'll take ownership of multiple manufacturing engineering projects, coordinating cross-functional teams and ensuring successful delivery throughout the project lifecycle. You'll develop and manage integrated project schedules, monitor progress, manage risks and communicate effectively with both internal stakeholders and external customers.


You'll also play an important role in manufacturing readiness, supporting ERP developments, driving continuous improvement and ensuring projects are delivered in line with demanding engineering and quality standards.


What You'll Be Doing


  • Lead manufacturing engineering projects from concept through to production.
  • Develop and manage integrated project plans
  • Coordinate engineering, manufacturing, quality and supply chain activities.
  • Manage project risks, issues, change control and configuration throughout delivery.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders.
  • Deliver project reviews, progress reports and technical presentations.
  • Support manufacturing readiness and production planning activities.
  • Contribute to ERP and manufacturing system improvements.
  • Drive continuous improvement across project delivery and manufacturing performance.


About You

We're keen to hear from candidates who have experience delivering engineering or manufacturing projects within defence, aerospace or another highly regulated industry.


You'll ideally bring:

  • Experience managing engineering or manufacturing projects.
  • Working knowledge of planning software - Primavera P6/MS Project.
  • Excellent planning, scheduling and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Knowledge of project governance, risk management and change control.
  • An engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP or similar.


Professional project management qualifications (APM, PRINCE2 or PMP), Lean Manufacturing knowledge and experience supporting ERP implementations would be advantageous but are not essential.
