Role Summary
The successful candidate will act as Mechanical Chargehand on a substation project, supervising the installation, testing and commissioning of Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) up to 400kV. The role involves leading a team on site, ensuring works are carried out safely, to programme, and to the required quality standard.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise and coordinate primary installation activities on GIS switchgear up to 400kV
* Allocate daily tasks and manage a team of electrical/mechanical operatives
* Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with site RAMS and safe systems of work
* Liaise with site management, client representatives and other trades
* Monitor progress against programme and report on works completed
* Ensure quality control and compliance with relevant technical standards
* Promote and enforce a strong health & safety culture on site
Requirements
Essential Requirements
* GIS experience up to 400kV
* CSCS card
* SSSTS
* Previous chargehand/supervisory experience on substation projects
* Ability to read and work from technical/electrical drawings
* Must operate via a LTD company
* Right to work in the UK
Desirable
* National Grid experience
* Wider substation/primary jointing experience
Health & Safety
* Valid CSCS card
* SSSTS certification
* Full PPE required (provided items to be confirmed on site induction)
* Compliance with all site-specific health & safety inductions and RAMS is mandatory
