Summary:An Estimator, ideally with a mechanical bias, is being sought by a growing contractor, based in Southampton.The position is a permanent role where you will be working from the office based in Ower, Southampton.This is an excellent opportunity for an individual wanting the chance to work for a successful and growing business that is financially solid, has a great working environment and provides opportunity for progression.Key Activities include:Tender pricing respond to tender queries, prepare and submit competitive tender packages and quotations with values ranging from £100k to £2m+ in accordance with our clients requirementsJob costing calculate the price of time, labour and materials for complex, bespoke contractsManaging and assisting with the preparation of pre-qualification questionnaires for large tendersNegotiation of effective cost settlements for projectsAnalysis of contract documentation and preparation of accurate sub-contractor packages for pricing, liaising and negotiating with sub-contractors and key suppliersMeet with clients as necessary to clarify design requirements and explain basis of estimates to ensure bid proposals meet needsPrioritise, manage own work flow and maintain accurate record of tenders submittedArrange sub-contractor enquiry documents to ensure accuracy and competitiveness of estimateDrawing take offs take off quantities from drawings or bill of quantities and preparation of schedule of ratesDetermine contractual, financial, technical and operational risks and to find opportunities to minimise risk and maximise gross profitEssential Skills:Strong commercial acumen and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent negotiating skillsGood computer skills, including Word and ExcelEffective communication both verbal and writtenEfficient, flexible, accuracy and attention to detailAbility to multi-task as working on several projects at a timeAbility to work to targets and goals within set guidelines and parametersSomeone who is ambitious, dynamic, self-motivated and drivenRequired experience:2 years of estimating and job costing experience within M&E constr uction industry is preferred but not mandatory. xrnqpay For the right candidate, we are open to offering a hybrid arrangement outside our region; however, scheduled on-site attendance will still be required.
