An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Heating Engineer to join a large and established facilities' management team supporting a high-profile site in Suffolk.
This is a varied role where you'll be responsible for the maintenance, servicing and repair of commercial heating systems across a large estate, ensuring critical assets remain safe, compliant and operating efficiently.
The Role As a Mechanical Heating Engineer, you will undertake both planned preventative maintenance and reactive repair work on a range of commercial heating and mechanical systems across multiple locations.
Key responsibilities include:
Servicing, maintaining and repairing oil, LPG and gas-fired heating systems
Diagnosing faults and carrying out effective repairs
Ensuring all plant and equipment operates safely and efficiently
Completing planned maintenance tasks in line with service schedules
Responding to reactive breakdowns and emergency call-outs
Managing work orders via a tablet-based system and scheduling your own workload
Supervising specialist contractors where required
Ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations
Maintaining accurate records and reports using digital systems
Participating in an on-call rota (approximately 1 in 6/7 weeks)
What You'll Need To be considered for this role, you will have:
A recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification (City & Guilds, ONC, HNC or equivalent)
Proven experience working on commercial heating systems
Current Gas Safe registration
Experience with oil-fired boilers and associated plant equipment
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
The ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
Excellent communication and organisational skills
A full UK driving licence
Desirable
LPG gas qualifications and experience
Knowledge of HVAC systems
Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS)
Understanding of safe electrical isolation procedures
Due to the nature of the site, successful applicants must be able to obtain DBS and Security Clearance (SC). What's on Offer?
