Mechanical Installer Gas Suppression Systems
Location: Dudley base with nationwide travel (Midlands, London & South)
Salary: £45,000£50,000, depending on experience

We are recruiting on behalf of an established UK fire protection specialist seeking an experienced Mechanical Installer/Pipe Fitter to join its gas suppression division.
This is a specialist position for someone with proven experience installing gaseous fire suppression pipeworknot a general plumbing or mechanical-services role. You will work on commercial, industrial and critical-environment projects throughout the UK.
The Role
You will install and modify high- and low-pressure pipework for gaseous fire suppression systems, including:
HFC-227ea
FK-5-1-12
Inergen
Argonite
CO2 systems
Your responsibilities will include:
Installing threaded pipework and high-pressure fittings to exact tolerances
Setting out pipework routes from approved drawings and manufacturer specifications
Cutting, threading and assembling pipework to a high standard
Installing cylinders, manifolds, valves, discharge nozzles, brackets and supports
Ensuring pipe sizes, routes and nozzle positions comply with system designs
Assisting with pressure testing, integrity testing and commissioning
Identifying design clashes, defects and non-conformances
Completing installation records, test documentation and site reports
Working closely with project managers, supervisors and commissioning engineers
Following RAMS, permit-to-work procedures and site health and safety requirements
Working in accordance with relevant British Standards, manufacturer guidance and applicable LPCB or FM requirements
About You
To be considered, you must have:
Previous experience installing gaseous fire suppression pipework
Strong threaded-pipe installation skills
Experience working with high-pressure pipe systems
The ability to interpret mechanical drawings, isometrics and installation manuals
A high standard of workmanship and attention to detail
The ability to work independently on live sites
A valid CSCS Skilled Worker card
A full UK driving licence
A willingness to travel and stay away when projects require it
Manufacturer-specific suppression-system training is highly desirable. IPAF, PASMA, manual-handling and asbestos-awareness certificates would also be beneficial.
