Medical Receptionist-Telephonist [Care Navigator]
Job summary
The medical receptionist/call taker [now known as a care navigator] is an integral part of the wider primary care team. Being the initial contact for patients, carers, professional colleagues and other guests/visitors to the surgery, they are the "face" and "voice"of that surgery and project the care and empathy of services offered.
Having the opportunity to meet a variety of people and be involved in mixed tasks within the working day, this can be a challenging role but one of immense satisfaction
.Main duties of the job
We are looking for a care navigator that wishes to work around 20hours per week.
Shifts would be worked out between Monday to Friday and between 7.45am [with effect from April 2026] and 6pm [to become 6.30pm in few months time].
We are looking to recruit as soon as possible.
About us
We are an independent GP practice with just short of 6000 patients, over two sites. We are also proud to be a training practice, supporting medical students and one post qualification doctor [ST1/ST2/ST3] in 6month cycles.
We hold family values as an integral part of running the surgeries as well as striving to maintain a good work/life balance which ultimately increases drive and application during the course of day to day work.
Our set up comprises three GP partners, Practice Manager, two long term locums, alongside an ACP, 1 x Nurse, 2 x HCA, Assistant Practice Manager, 2 x GPA and 8 non-clinical staff, all of whom work between the two sites.
Loyalty and kinship have been enjoyed in our "team" orientated practice, with colleagues tending to leave due to retirement or relocation.
We hold regular meetings at all levels, where everyone's contribution is welcomed.
Job responsibilities
It is preferable to have previous medical reception experience and be fully au fait with emis web software and knowledge of snowmed coding, however we are prepared to provide relevant training to an otherwise experienced or suitable candidate.
