Job summary

  • You will work on our Acute Admissions Ward under the supervision of the Medicine Management Pharmacy Technician to assist in the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients within the Trust through the provision of a safe, efficient and cost-effective medicines management service.
  • This is a 6-month fixed term contract, with the possibility of extending after this time.

Main duties of the job

  • To contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive and modern ward pharmacy service. Undertaking activities predominantly at ward level but also within the pharmacy department which contribute to the efficient and effective delivery of medicines to patients.
  • To complete housekeeping duties in accordance with local standards of practice. Supporting the wards in the Safe and Secure storage of medications including top-ups, transfer of medications, recycling of stock and discharge support.

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE grade C in Maths, English and a Science subject or equivalent
  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or willingness to complete (or equivalent experience)

Experience , Skills & Knowledge

Essential

  • Experience of working as part of an effective team
  • Ability to accurately follow both written and verbal instruction
  • Good numeracy skills
  • Good IT skills
  • Proven ability to work under pressure

Desirable

  • Previous Pharmacy/ NHS experience
