Main duties of the job

As a Mental Health Nurse, you will work as an effective member of the Multi-Disciplinary team and promote the best interests of the clients and carers and ensure that prescribed nursing care is effectively implemented. 

  • Deliver prescribed care to a defined group within an agreed framework. 
  • Assess, plan and deliver, with the patient and their carer/family, nursing care which takes account of patient choice and wishes and acting as the patients named nurse. 
  • Accurately observe and engage with patients in order to assess their need and evaluate their progress. 
  • Monitor and review Nursing Care plans.

Requirements

Essential

  • A qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with 18 months of post-registration experience is required, along with active NMC registration and completion of a preceptorship programme. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of NMC guidelines, requirements, and professional standards, and be able to demonstrate ongoing post-registration continuing professional development. They will show a positive attitude and a commitment to change, service improvement, and high-quality care. The ability to adopt flexible and innovative approaches to practice is essential, as are excellent verbal and written communication skills.
