Mental Health Nurses & Non-Medical Prescribers Prison Cleared Multiple Sites

Location: Various HMP sites across the West Midlands/Staffordshire region Specialty: Offender Health / Prison Mental Health Bands: Band 6 (Staff Nurse) & Band 7 (NMP) Job Type: Full-time / Part-time considered
About the Role We are recruiting experienced Mental Health Nurses and Non-Medical Prescribers, ideally already prison cleared, to join healthcare teams across several prison establishments. These roles offer the chance to deliver mental health and primary care within a secure environment, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to support the wellbeing of the prison population. Full induction, security clearance support and ongoing training provided for those not yet cleared.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver mental health nursing care/clinics within a secure prison healthcare setting
Undertake reception health screening, triage and ongoing mental health assessments
(NMP roles) Independent prescribing and medicines management within scope of practice
Manage mental health presentations, substance misuse and dual diagnosis needs
Work collaboratively with prison staff, GPs, psychiatry and the wider MDT
Maintain accurate clinical records in line with NMC and information governance standards
Respond xwzovoh to clinical emergencies and manage risk within a custodial environment
Essential Requirements
Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with current NMC registration
For NMP roles: V300 Independent Prescriber qualification
Experience in mental health, substance misuse or offender health nursing
Enhanced DBS clearance; existing prison security clearance desirable
Strong communication, resilience and risk-management skills
Right to work in the UK
