Associate - Real Estate Non-Contentious Construction (2-3 PQE)

A highly regarded London law firm with a market-leading Real Estate practice is seeking an Associate (2-3 PQE) to join its growing Non-Contentious Construction team. The team advises on some of the UK's most complex and high-profile development projects, working with leading developers, investors, landlords, funders and occupiers across a broad range of sectors.

Known for its collaborative culture, commercial approach and innovative use of technology, the firm offers lawyers the opportunity to work on premium quality matters alongside recognised industry experts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising a broad client base on non-contentious construction matters.
  • Drafting and negotiating construction documentation, including:
    • Building contracts
    • Consultant appointments
    • Collateral warranties
    • Letters of intent
    • Parent company guarantees
    • Performance bonds
  • Supporting the construction elements of real estate, finance and corporate transactions.
  • Conducting due diligence and preparing reports for clients and lenders.
  • Working closely with colleagues across real estate, planning, finance and corporate teams to deliver integrated advice on major projects.

Candidate Profile

  • 2-3 years' PQE gained within a recognised City, regional or national law firm.
  • Strong grounding in non-contentious construction law.
  • Experience acting for developers, investors, landlords and/or lenders.
  • Good understanding of construction procurement methods and standard form contracts, particularly JCT and NEC.
  • Exposure to agreements for lease, forward funding arrangements and finance-related construction matters would be advantageous.
  • Strong drafting, negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Commercial, client-focused and able to manage a varied workload effectively.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Proactive, adaptable and motivated to develop within a high-performing team.
