Nursing Associate
Job summary
We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and motivated Nursing Associate to join our friendly practice team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a family-friendly General Practice where patient care, teamwork, and staff wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do.
Working alongside our experienced team of Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants (HCAs), GPs, and wider multidisciplinary colleagues, you will support the delivery of high-quality, compassionate care to our patients. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships with people, supporting patients to improve their health and wellbeing, and working as part of a close-knit team.
Main duties of the job
As a Nursing Associate, you will work closely with our Practice Nurses and HCAs to support the delivery of a wide range of nursing services and health promotion activities. Duties may include:
- Undertaking clinical observations including blood pressure, pulse, height, weight, and BMI measurements.
- Supporting the nursing team with chronic disease management and patient reviews.
- Carrying out ECGs, wound care, simple dressings, and other delegated clinical procedures within your scope of practice.
- Supporting vaccination and immunisation programmes following appropriate training and competency assessment.
- Providing health education and lifestyle advice to patients and their families.
- Maintaining accurate clinical records and contributing to high standards of patient care.
- Assisting with infection prevention and control procedures and maintaining clinical equipment and supplies.
- Working collaboratively with Practice Nurses, HCAs, GPs, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patients receive safe, effective, and person-centred care.

Job SummaryThe Nursing Associate will work as part of the General Practice nursing team, supporting the Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants (HCAs), GPs, and wider multidisciplinary team to provide safe, effective, and high-quality patient care.
The post holder will deliver a range of clinical and health promotion activities within their scope of practice, contributing to the assessment, monitoring, and treatment of patients. They will support patients to improve and maintain their health and wellbeing while promoting a positive patient experience.
The Nursing Associate will work under the direction and supervision of registered healthcare professionals, whilst being accountable for their own practice in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code.
Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical DutiesThe post holder will:
- Undertake a range of delegated clinical procedures within their scope of practice and competence.
- Record and monitor physiological measurements including:
- Blood pressure
- Pulse
- Temperature
- Respiratory rate
- Height and weight
- BMI
- Undertake ECG recordings.
- Carry out wound care and simple dressings.
- Support patients with long-term condition monitoring as directed by the nursing team.
- Administer vaccinations and immunisations where appropriately trained and competent.
- Support national screening and health promotion programmes.
- Recognise changes in a patient's condition and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Assist in maintaining safe clinical environments and infection prevention and control standards.
The post holder will:
- Provide compassionate, person-centred care to patients and their families.
- Support patients to understand and manage their health conditions.
- Provide health promotion and lifestyle advice in line with practice protocols.
- Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and healthcare professionals.
- Maintain patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.
The post holder will:
- Work closely with Practice Nurses and HCAs to deliver nursing services.
- Support the nursing team in delivering chronic disease management programmes.
- Assist with clinical recalls and monitoring activities.
- Contribute to achieving quality improvement and patient safety objectives.
- Participate in team meetings and service development initiatives.
The post holder will:
- Maintain accurate, timely, and complete patient records.
- Ensure all clinical information is entered onto the clinical system in accordance with practice procedures.
- Comply with information governance and data protection requirements.
The post holder will:
- Work within NMC standards, professional guidelines, and organisational policies.
- Maintain professional registration and revalidation requirements.
- Participate in clinical supervision, appraisal, and continuing professional development.

Qualifications
Essential
- Nursing Associate Foundation Degree.
- Registered Nursing Associate with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
- Experience working in General Practice.
- Experience providing direct patient care.
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable
- Experience of ECG recording.
- Experience supporting long-term condition management.
- Knowledge of SystmOne.
- Immunisation and vaccination experience.
