Job summary
Westmorland and Furness Council is seeking an enthusiastic and qualified Occupational Health Advisor to join our growing in-house Occupational Health team. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a newly established service, supporting the health, wellbeing and attendance of our diverse workforce across the council.
Main duties of the job
Working alongside the Occupational Health Service Manager, you will provide expert occupational health advice and guidance to managers and employees, delivering a comprehensive range of services including fitness for work assessments, health surveillance, rehabilitation support, health screening and immunisation programmes.

About you
You will be a Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration and hold a recognised Occupational Health qualification to degree or diploma level. You will have substantial experience working within an Occupational Health environment, along with a comprehensive understanding of occupational health practice, health and safety legislation and workplace wellbeing.
You will also have:
- Excellent communication, organisational and report-writing skills.
- Experience in undertaking pre employment assessments, management referrals, health surveillance and fitness for work assessments.
- Competency in audiometry, spirometry, vision screening, HAVS assessments and immunisation programmes.
- The ability to travel throughout Cumbria as required.

Essential
- Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration.
- Occupational Health Post graduate specialist qualification to degree or diploma level.
