Operations Technician - Ross-shire, UK

Job Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day manufacturing operations to ensure production targets are met safely and efficiently.
  • Carry out routine checks, inspections, and maintenance activities to keep equipment operating to specification.
  • Diagnose faults and carry out first-line troubleshooting on production plant and associated systems.
  • Assist with planned maintenance schedules and help coordinate downtime to minimise disruption.
  • Monitor process performance and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and throughput.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections, and any corrective actions taken.
  • Follow health and safety procedures and ensure safe working practices are adhered to at all times.
  • Work closely with the wider team to support smooth handovers between shifts and departments.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience in an operations, production, or technician role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical fault-finding skills, with the ability to identify root causes.
  • Working knowledge of basic industrial maintenance practices, including preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical information such as equipment documentation, work instructions, and maintenance logs.
  • Competence in using standard workshop tools and common test equipment for troubleshooting.
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements in a manufacturing setting, including safe isolation practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a small team.
