Xyla is currently recruiting for an experienced Dermatology Nurse to join a specialist outpatient service in Edinburgh. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a well-established dermatology team, supporting the delivery of high-quality care and helping to reduce patient waiting times.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing outpatient dermatology clinics, assessing and supporting patients through both new and follow-up appointments, and ensuring accurate clinical documentation throughout each session. Clinics cover a range of dermatology pathways, including general dermatology, skin lesion assessments, biopsies, and urgent referrals.

Job responsibilities

  • Manage and support dermatology outpatient clinics independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Conduct patient assessments for both new and follow-up appointments.
  • Assist consultants and specialist clinicians during dermatology procedures.
  • Perform comprehensive skin assessments and contribute to clinical decision-making.
  • Support the diagnosis and management of common dermatological conditions, including inflammatory skin diseases and skin lesions.
  • Prepare patients for examinations, biopsies, and minor surgical procedures.
  • Monitor patient progress and provide ongoing advice regarding treatment plans and skin care management.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of clinical records and documentation.
  • Maintain compliance with clinical governance, infection prevention, and safeguarding standards.
  • Escalate clinical concerns appropriately and contribute to maintaining a safe clinical environment.
  • Deliver excellent patient care whilst ensuring a positive patient experience throughout their pathway.

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • - Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
    • - Previous experience working within a dermatology setting.
    • - Competent in conducting dermatology patient assessments.
    • - Experience supporting skin lesion clinics and minor procedures.
    • - Strong knowledge of dermatology pathways and skin conditions.
    • - Excellent communication and patient engagement skills.
    • - Ability to work autonomously and manage clinic workloads effectively.
    • Strong clinical documentation and IT skills.
