Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Reception Team for a receptionist.

Main responsibilities will include, booking appointments, inputting referrals, dealing with patient enquiries, adding/amending clinics, engaging with the specialities to resolve any issues, and the input of data on to Trust computer systems. An integral part of the role is contacting patients by telephone to book appointments within a call centre environment.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to project a professional helpful manner and ensuring complete confidentiality is adhered to at all times. You will be working with a busy team and will ideally have some experience of working within this type of environment.

Person specification

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above

Desirable

  • Level 2 in Business Administration, Customer Care (or equivalent experience)

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Essential

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Good IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office, Outlook and Google Docs.
  • Accurate data entry and record keeping
  • Ability to follow procedures and work within defined protocols
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection principles

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience in an administrative or receptionist role
  • Experience of dealing with the public both face to face and by phone

Desirable

  • Experience using MAXIMS or other hospital systems
  • Experience in a healthcare or NHS environment
