An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Central Booking Office as a Scheduling Supervisor, supporting our evening Scheduling Team.Working hours: Monday to Friday, 16:00-20:00We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and motivated individual with excellent communication skills who can confidently support and supervise a busy team.

You will have the day-to-day supervision of the Scheduling team. They will have a key role in supporting the delivery of agreed reports and targets, in line with information regarding the department Key Performance Indicators (KPI's). Good communication skills and being able to work with all levels of staff are crucial, with the ability to remain calm under pressure to meet deadlines. As Supervisors they are able to escalate to the manager. Supervisors are expected to demonstrate the Trust values within their daily work, to both support colleagues and provide an example of good behaviours within the workplace.
You will be expected to undertake a wide range of duties to support the Patient Administration Service. Providing support and expert knowledge to the administrative team within their department, they will aid their manager to oversee all administrative and clerical processes to enable a high quality, effective patient focussed service. This service is to be delivered, utilising standard operating procedures to ensure achievement of all KPI's with the ability to escalate any concerns to their manager. The post holder will play a significant part in the writing of these processes to ensure they are accurate and achievable for the reception / scheduling teams.

Job responsibilities
Day to day supervision of Scheduling staffResponsible for ensuring Scheduling staff have required training and skills and that this is maintained with any upgrades or changes to our electronic systems or Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs).

Qualifications and knowledge
Essential
- Good general education including English at GCSE (Grade C or above) or equivalent
- Good standard of spoken English
- Strong IT skills in relation to Microsoft packages including word/excel and Microsoft to NVQ level 3 or RSA III or equivalent experience
- Understanding of confidentiality in the workplace
Desirable
- Knowledge of Waiting list procedures
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of NHS Administration systems
- Working knowledge of the local Patient Access Policy
- Understanding of NHS plan and waiting targets
Experience
Essential
- Minimum 6 months customer care work experience or previous clerical experience
- Ability to input and retrieve information on a computerised system whilst adhering to complex local and national policies and guidelines accurately and efficiently
- Experience of working in a busy environment dealing with peaks of high workload
Desirable
- Experience of handling inbound and outbound telephone calls of a potentially sensitive nature whilst recording information accurately into multiple electronic data systems
- Experience of transcribing dictation or copy typing
- Clerical experience in a healthcare environment
