We are seeking Overhead Lines (OHL) Engineers to support the design and delivery of electricity infrastructure projects across UK DNO frameworks. Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will contribute to network reinforcement, asset replacement, customer connections and wider energy transition projects. Key Responsibilities Deliver overhead line designs in accordance with DNO and industry standards. Produce engineering calculations, drawings, specifications and technical reports. Undertake route assessments, feasibility studies and site inspections. Carry out structural assessments of poles, towers, conductors and fittings. Support the delivery of projects from concept through to construction and commissioning. Liaise with clients, contractors, landowners and project stakeholders. Ensure compliance with ENA standards, CDM Regulations and Health & Safety requirements. Support construction activities by responding to technical queries and design changes. Participate in design reviews and engineering assurance activities. Work collaboratively with civil, cable, protection and substation engineering teams. Requirements Essential Degree, HNC or HND in Engineering or a related discipline. Experience delivering overhead line projects within the UK utilities sector. Knowledge of DNO standards and overhead line design principles. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Full UK driving licence. Desirable Experience working on networks up to 132kV. Knowledge of ENA Engineering Recommendations. Membership of a relevant professional institution. Working towards or holding Chartered Engineer status. Seniority Differences OHL Engineer Produces designs and calculations under guidance. Supports project delivery and site activities. Typically 2-5 years' experience. Senior OHL Engineer Leads technical delivery of projects. Reviews and approves design outputs. Mentors junior engineers and acts as Lead Engineer. Typically 5-10 years' experience. Principal OHL Engineer Acts as Technical Authority across multiple projects. Provides technical assurance and design governance. Leads complex engineering challenges and client engagement. Typically 10+ years' experience. OHL Engineering Manager Leads engineering teams and resource planning. Holds responsibility for technical quality and project delivery.
