Job summary

We are looking for a friendly, organised and patient-focused individual to join our Patient Services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a high-quality, welcoming and efficient service to patients, supporting the smooth day-to-day running of our services. This is a varied role that requires excellent communication skills, a professional approach and the ability to work flexibly as part of a team. As we use multiple IT systems to communicate and record patient interactions, strong IT skills are essential for this role.

Main duties of the job

Duties include managing appointments (in person, phone, and online), handling enquiries, processing mail and prescriptions, managing patient registrations and records, and supporting clinical teams with clerical tasks. Maintain a tidy reception and clinical area, uphold confidentiality, and ensure excellent customer service.

Job responsibilities

Posts Available: 1

Hours: 20-25 hours per week across 3-5 days

Shifts: Monday to Friday, including 8am starts and 12 late shifts per week, finishing at 7pm. You will be required to work flexibly, where needed, between the hours of 8am and 7pm to provide cover.

Person specification

Experience

Essential

  • At least 2 years customer service experience
  • Must live in or near Dudley (local knowledge essential)
  • Strong communication and IT skills (MS Word, email, quick learner with new systems)
  • Team player with customer service experience
  • Confidential, accurate, motivated, and flexible
  • Smart appearance and reliable attendance

Desirable

  • Call centre or NHS/general practice experience
  • EMIS Web experience
  • Telephone skills training

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE AC or equivalent; NVQ Level 2

Desirable

  • AMSPAR or relevant NVQ
