Payroll Assistant VGC Group | Ruislip Head Office £30,000 – £37,000 per annum, depending on experience Full-time | Permanent | Office-based Monday–Thursday: 8:30am–5:30pm | Friday: 8:30am–4:00pm About VGC Group Do you thrive in a fast-paced payroll environment where accuracy, attention to detail and problem-solving are essential? We're looking for a Payroll Assistant to join our busy payroll team, supporting the delivery of payroll services for a large temporary workforce operating across major infrastructure, construction and rail projects throughout the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong contract payroll experience who enjoys working with multiple pay arrangements, varying working patterns and the complexities associated with a high-volume contractor workforce. What You'll Be Doing ✅ Processing weekly payrolls for a mixed workforce including PAYE, Umbrella and Limited Company contractors ✅ Reviewing and validating a high volume of timesheets with varying shift patterns, overtime arrangements, allowances and rates of pay ✅ Managing payroll data accurately and efficiently to ensure workers are paid correctly and on time ✅ Producing payroll reports and maintaining accurate records ✅ Supporting payroll compliance in line with legislation, company procedures and audit requirements ✅ Liaising with candidates, contractors, site teams and internal stakeholders to resolve payroll queries ✅ Assisting with payroll reconciliations and payroll administration activities What We're Looking For ✔ Previous payroll experience (minimum 3 years ideal) ✔ Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately under pressure ✔ Excellent numerical and analytical skills ✔ Confident user of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications ✔ Strong organisational and communication skills ✔ Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to strict payroll deadlines ⭐ Previous experience working within contract payroll, recruitment, construction, rail, engineering or a similar temporary workforce environment would be highly desirable. ⭐ Experience handling multiple pay rates, overtime calculations, shift enhancements, travel allowances and complex timesheet arrangements would be a significant advantage.
