Payroll Assistant Required Salary - £26,000 - £28,000 Monday to Friday - 08:00 - 17:00 Experience: No prior payroll experience required. Full training will be provided. About the Role We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Payroll Assistant to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career in payroll and develop valuable skills within a supportive environment. Key Responsibilities * Collect, review and process weekly payroll data from multiple sites, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time. * Validate timesheets, attendance records, overtime and other payroll-related information. * Respond to employee queries regarding pay, tax, deductions and payroll discrepancies. * Assist with statutory payroll requirements, including PAYE, National Insurance, statutory payments and pension contributions. * Support the administration of the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS), including subcontractor payments and deductions. * Maintain accurate employee payroll records and update payroll systems as required. * Process new starters, leavers and changes to employee details. * Assist with payroll reconciliations and payroll reporting. * Ensure payroll activities comply with company policies and relevant legislation. * Maintain strict confidentiality when handling employee and payroll information. * Liaise with Operations and HR to resolve payroll-related queries and ensure accurate payroll data is received. * Support month-end and year-end payroll processes. About You The ideal candidate will have: * Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. * Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees, managers and colleagues. * Good numerical and administrative skills. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. * The ability to quickly learn new systems and processes. * Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines. * A professional approach to handling confidential information. * An interest in learning payroll processes, including PAYE and CIS. * A positive, reliable and proactive attitude. * The ability to work independently as well as part of a small, supportive team
