Job summary

The Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Service provides assessment and treatment of patients with a wide variety of clinical conditions including:

  • Urotherapy/ continencedisorders
  • Post-op conditions
  • Gynaecological conditions
  • Perinatal Pelvic Health Conditions

A Band 5 to 6 training role would be considered if the applicant lacks the required knowledge, skills and experience required for a Band 6 Pelvic Health Physiotherapy role.

Main duties of the job

To perform specialist assessment and treatment of patients with Pelvic Health conditions; determine a clinical diagnosis; develop, implement, evaluate and modify individualised treatment programmes; and ensure appropriate pathways of care and communication via liaison and referral to other agencies as required. The patient's will present with acute or chronic conditions, some of which may be complex.

Person specification

Qualifications/Registration

Essential

  • HCPC Member
  • BSc / MSc Physiotherapy
  • Post graduate training relevant to speciality

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Significant post registration experience including experience at Band 5 level, or above, within MSK speciality
  • Evidence of wide clinical theoretical knowledge base and a specialist knowledge in assessment and treatment of MSK patients
  • Knowledge of National Guidelines / Standards pertinent to the Pelvic Health pathway
  • Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Evidence of supervising other staff and students

Desirable

  • Completion of NHS recognised Clinical Educators Course

Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • Highly developed communication skills including discussing sensitive and intimate topics.
  • Evidence of CPD including specialist post-graduate training in pelvic health.
  • Ability to travel to different Geographical locations either through use of a car or access to another means of transport to travel across the trust footprint in line with the service need
