Job summary

The postholder will be the lead People and Organisational Development (POD) project manager and will support projects across the full range of the POD function. Operating at a senior level, the role will provide a trusted and high level support to the Director of People and Deputy Director's including shaping and supporting the delivery of strategic workforce priorities, facilitating cross organisational collaboration, preparing high quality briefings and policy reports and acting as a key interface between the strategic HR function and internal/external stakeholders.

They will lead specific programmes of work, manage stakeholder engagement across Care Groups and Backbone Services.

This post will be considered for between 30 to 37.5 hours per week

Main duties of the job

As a key member of the POD team, the post holder will lead the implementation of a range of People projects and cross cutting initiatives across the Trust, ensuring that the organisation delivers on its commitment to make RDaSH an employer of choice. This role requires a strategic and operational approach, combining engagement, culture transformation and workforce development initiatives.

In addition, the post holder will provide high level senior support to the POD Senior Leadership Team assisting in the delivery of strategic priorities, co-ordination of cross cutting People projects, preparation of board-level reports and papers and ensuring alignment with national NHS priorities.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to Masters level or equivalent experience in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience of working at a similar level.
  • Evidence of CPD

Desirable

  • Degree and/ or an appropriate professional qualification
  • CIPD qualified or equivalent experience
  • Programme and Project management qualification (e.g. Prince2 Practitioner; Agile Project Management Practitioner or APM qualification) or equivalent experience.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of managing projects, including project planning, project control and project management.
  • Experience in managing stakeholders, taking account of their levels of influence and particular interests.
  • Experience of preparing briefing papers and correspondence at senior management team level.
  • Experience of managing risks, identifying issues and reporting.
  • Experience of working with a variety of stakeholders on complex projects

Knowledge

Desirable

  • Specialist knowledge in Human Resource Management Working knowledge of NHS People policies and national agendas.

Skills/ Abilities

Essential

  • Well-developed data analysis and interpretation skills involving highly complex data, with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyse very complex issues where material is conflicting and drawn from multiple sources.
  • Capable of constructing and delivering clear ideas and concepts concisely and accurately to a diverse and varied range of audiences consisting of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated capabilities to manage own workload and make informed decisions in the absence of required information, working to tight and often changing timescales.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of project principles, techniques and tools.
  • Advanced working knowledge and proficiency in all Microsoft Office packages (e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail and internet use).
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to build relations with internal and external partners which are critical in securing the strategic objectives of the business.
  • Able to deal with challenging people and to cope with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Support decision making on difficult and contentious issues where there may be several courses of action.
  • Clear communicator with excellent written and presentations skills.
  • Demonstrated capability to act upon incomplete information, using experience to make inferences and decision making.
  • Able to demonstrate and role model behaviours consistent with Trust Core Values
