Gloucester Contract:
6 months initially, with potential for extension Start Date:
31 August 2026 Working Pattern:
Hybrid - minimum 3 days per week on site following initial training Clearance:
DBS required We are currently recruiting for a
Performance & Dynamics Engineer
to join a Systems Engineering team supporting major engineering programmes. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing computational models and conducting simulations to assess the performance and dynamics of mechanical, hydraulic and, where required, basic electrical systems. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced
Performance, Dynamics, Stress or Simulation Engineer
to work on complex engineering programmes and contribute to the development and validation of integrated systems.
Key Responsibilities
Build computational models and conduct simulations. Calculate static and dynamic loads. Perform performance and frequency response analyses. Conduct stability, shimmy, modal and failure-case analyses. Undertake landing gear extension/retraction and shock absorber performance analysis. Conduct recoil analysis and system load generation. Correlate and validate computational models against test data. Develop and validate performance and dynamics requirements. Define and document simulation cases, including pass/fail criteria. Optimise design solutions in collaboration with other engineering disciplines. Define test requirements and analyse and interpret test results. Support requirements verification and validation activities. Ensure engineering activities are delivered in line with programme schedules.
Essential Experience & Knowledge
Experience in
multi-body dynamic modelling and simulation . Knowledge of landing gear extension/retraction analysis. Experience with shock absorber performance analysis and/or recoil analysis. Knowledge of shimmy and stability analysis. Experience with system loads generation and model integration. Working knowledge of relevant modelling and simulation tools such as:
MATLAB / Simulink MSC ADAMS MSC EASY5 AMESim
Good understanding of mechanical and hydraulic systems. Ability to understand, derive and validate engineering requirements. Experience working within structured engineering and verification processes. DBS clearance or the ability to obtain DBS clearance.
Desirable Experience
Nose-wheel steering analysis. Vibration analysis. Electrical systems engineering. Airworthiness requirements and aircraft systems certification. Requirements management and DOORS experience. Candidates with a Stress Engineering or Simulation Engineering background are encouraged to apply , particularly those with transferable experience in computational modelling, dynamic analysis and systems performance. If you have the relevant engineering background and are interested in discussing this opportunity, please apply with an up-to-date CV.
