We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Lewes a category B/C Prison located in Sussex.

HMP Lewes is a male prison that has a capacity for 742 inmates and are recruiting for a Pharmacy Assistant to support with duties such as Labelling, stock taking, checking, collections etc.

Hours

37.5 hours per week Working on a rota basis 0730 - 1730  Week 1 : Monday, Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday  Week 2 : Tues- Friday

Salary

This position is full time, youll receive an annual salary up to £29,723 per annum

Main duties of the job

As a Pharmacy Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. You will
  • Complete general dispensary duties and stock management
  • Be working as an active member of the Pharmaceutical team to ensure delivery of the pharmaceutical service
  • Provide a timely and efficient service to the prison wings
  • Receive prescriptions and stick returns from wing based clinical areas
  • Collect orders from suppliers from the Main Gate and arrange collection of return
  • Participate in dispensing of prescriptions.

Qualifications required
  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills/equivalent or working towards
  • Medicines handing experience desirable not essential
  • Level 2 English and Maths or equivalent
  • A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good IT skills and IT literacy
  • Ability to work within a busy environment
  • Ability to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures
