Main duties of the job
As a Pharmacy Dispenser, you will play a key role in the accurate preparation, dispensing, and dispatch of prescription medications within a regulated distance selling setting. You will support the pharmacy team in ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient supply of medicines to patients who order remotely.

Job responsibilities
- Accurately assemble and dispense prescriptions under supervision of a pharmacist
- Label and package medicines for dispatch in line with SOPs
- Process repeat prescriptions and online orders via pharmacy systems
- Carry out final accuracy checks (if appropriately trained and accredited)
- Ensure full compliance with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) standards
- Maintain accurate records in line with legal and regulatory requirements
- Support stock control, including ordering, rotation, and expiry checks
- Respond to patient queries professionally (non-clinical) and escalate when needed
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient dispensing environment
Person specification
Experience
Essential
- Previous experience in a pharmacy dispensing role (community or distance selling preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Understanding of medicines, prescriptions, and pharmacy SOPs
- Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume environment
- Good IT skills (dispensing systems / electronic prescriptions)
- Knowledge of GPhC standards and safe dispensing practices
- Team player with strong communication skills

- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent)
