Job summary

We are seeing an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to deliver phlebotomy clinics for around 15 hours per week. We are a large and busy practice in the heart of Market Harborough, serving 29,000 patients. You will be joining a well-established and friendly team of 14 practice nurses and health care assistants.

Main duties of the job

  • To deliver a high-quality and effective phlebotomy service to patients.
  • To undertake other clinical duties within scope as and when required.
  • To carry out patient-related clinical admin as and when required.
  • To carry out administrative related tasks as delegated by the doctors and Nurse Manager.
  • Delivering high standards of holistic care, ensuring patient equality and dignity are maintained.
  • Input patient data into the medical record and action accordingly within scope and in-line with practice policies and protocols.

Job responsibilities

Carry out phlebotomy within scope and manage patient outcomes in-line with practice policies and protocols. Delivering high standards of holistic care, ensuring patient equality and dignity are maintained.

Input patient data into the medical record and action accordingly within scope and in-line with practice policies and protocols.

Support and delivery of other in-scope work as required.

Spin blood, process incoming deliveries, process samples.

General Responsibilities

Work as part of the practice's MDT to provide and monitor care, under direct or indirect supervision.

Improve safety and quality of care at every opportunity.

Contribute to the delivery of integrated care.

Support registered nurses to enable them to be able to focus on the more complex clinical care.

Develop relationships across the MDT to support integration of the role across health and social care including primary care, secondary care and mental health.

Perform and record clinical observations such as blood pressure, temperature, respirations, and pulse.

Advise patients on general healthcare and promote self-management where appropriate, including signposting patients to personalised care colleagues and local community and voluntary sector services

Communicate proactively and effectively with all MDT colleagues across the PCN, attending and contributing to meetings as required.

Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient health records.

Enhance own performance through continuous professional development, imparting own knowledge and behaviours to meet the needs of the service.

Person specification

Experience

Essential

  • Must hold a care certificate and already be well-practiced in phlebotomy.
  • Data input skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to organise own workload.
  • Attention to detail.
  • DBS Certification.
  • Legal Right to work in the UK.
  • Hold a current UK driving licence and have access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Smart and professional appearance.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to maintain the consistent delivery of high-quality services.

Desirable

  • Experience working within primary care.
  • Experience working with Emis clinical system
