Phototherapy Lead - Dermatology
Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Dermatology department, based at Corbett Outpatient Centre, for a Phototherapy lead nurse part time (24 hrs).
We invite applications from registered nurses, with proven experience and knowledge in Dermatology. The post holder will be qualified and competent in the delivery of Dermatological treatments, to oversee the management of phototherapy services to our patients.
The post holder will have the ability to organise and manage their own caseload of patients and provide clinical care to patients with dermatological conditions. You will work closely with the Lead Consultant and Lead Nurse and nursing team, in delivering innovation and initiative within the service.
It is imperative that the post holder has a passion for Dermatology and a desire to drive the service forward towards gold standards in collaboration with the dermatology team.
The post holder will be able to demonstrate proven experience in teaching and presentation skills, as you will be responsible to support and teach junior Dermatology nurses delivering Phototherapy services.
The post holder will be responsible for following policies procedures and national guidelines for phototherapy/patch testing and minor biopsies that is compliant with the clinical standards and guidance set by The British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) (BAD 2016) and British Dermatology Nursing Guidelines (BDNG).

Qualifications and Education
Essential
- Registered nurse, degree level or equivalent qualification
- Educated to degree level or can demonstrate experience of operating at this level
Desirable
- Evidence of undertaking a recognised course of study in teaching and assessing
Communication Skills
Essential
- Effective communication skills, verbal and written
- Able to demonstrate negotiating and influencing skills
- Able to communicate using different methods (ie, email etc)
Knowledge and Training
Essential
- Effective leadership good analytical and clinical decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of effective people management and change management practices

- Computer literate
- Ability to manage a caseload of patients without direct supervision
- Able to supervise and educate junior staff in the delivery of phototherapy services
- Teaching and presentation skills
Experience
Essential
- Extensive Dermatology experience at a Band 5
- Recognised Phototherapy Course with regular updates
- Expert knowledge in the management, delivery and provision of phototherapy services
- Experience of close liaison with members of multidisciplinary team
- Current experience of working with safeguarding issues and able to identify and refer to appropriate agencies
