A Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules to ensure the successful execution and timely completion of construction, infrastructure, industrial, EPC, and data center projects. The role involves preparing detailed project plans and baseline schedules using Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or other planning software while establishing Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), project milestones, activity sequences, and critical paths. The Planning Engineer coordinates closely with project managers, engineering teams, procurement departments, construction teams, subcontractors, consultants, and clients to ensure that all project activities are logically planned and aligned with contractual and operational requirements. The position requires continuous monitoring of project progress against approved schedules, identifying delays, productivity issues, resource constraints, and potential risks that may affect project delivery. The Planning Engineer is responsible for preparing and updating project schedules, conducting critical path analysis, forecasting project completion dates, and recommending corrective actions or recovery plans to mitigate delays and improve overall project performance.

In addition to schedule management, the Planning Engineer plays a key role in project controls by analyzing manpower deployment, equipment utilization, material availability, and productivity trends. The role includes preparing weekly and monthly progress reports, S-curves, resource histograms, earned value analysis, KPI reports, and management dashboards to provide stakeholders with accurate project status information. The Planning Engineer also supports risk management and claims activities by maintaining records of delays, variations, disruptions, and scope changes, assisting in Extension of Time (EOT) claims and contractual correspondence. Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential, as the role requires regular interaction with multidisciplinary teams and senior management. Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, along with proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and advanced Microsoft Excel. A Planning Engineer contributes significantly to project success by ensuring effective planning, proactive monitoring, efficient resource utilization, and timely decision-making, ultimately helping projects achieve their objectives within schedule, budget, quality, and safety requirements.
