Planning Solicitor (Senior Associate / Partner)

A Planning Solicitor (Senior Associate/Partner level) is required by a Legal 500 rated firm in Suffolk. This full‑time role covers a broad range of planning law matters, including development projects, appeals, and environmental issues. You will handle complex cases for a varied client base, drawing on over five years of post‑qualification experience. The salary is between £60,000 and £80,000 per annum, dependent on experience. The position offers a chance to join a respected regional practice and contribute to its continued growth.

THE ROLE

A highly regarded regional law firm is seeking an experienced Planning Senior Associate / Partner to join its growing team in Suffolk. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a well‑established practice with a strong reputation for advising developers, landowners, businesses, local authorities and private clients on a broad range of planning matters. Working alongside a highly respected real‑estate team, you will advise on a varied caseload of matters including planning applications, appeals, enforcement, Section 106 agreements, highways agreements and planning obligations. You’ll play a key role in supporting development projects from inception through to completion while helping to strengthen and expand the firm’s planning offering. Whether you are looking for a clear route to partnership or are already a Partner, this role offers genuine autonomy, high‑quality work and the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the future growth of the department.

THE CANDIDATE

Applications are welcomed from qualified Solicitors with significant experience in planning law, ideally gained within a recognised regional, national or City practice. The successful candidate will have:

  • Strong technical knowledge across a broad range of planning matters.
  • Experience advising a diverse client base on both contentious and non‑contentious planning issues.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and outstanding client relationship skills.
  • A proactive approach to business development and networking.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities, with experience mentoring junior colleagues where appropriate.

A client following would be advantageous for Partner applicants but is not essential for candidates who can demonstrate the ability to develop and grow a successful practice.

THE FIRM

This well‑established and respected Suffolk law firm is recognised for delivering high‑quality legal services across a range of practice areas. With a collaborative culture and an excellent reputation in the local market, the firm is committed to investing in its people and supporting long‑term career development. Offering high‑quality work, hybrid working, competitive remuneration and genuine opportunities for progression, this is an outstanding opportunity for an ambitious Planning Lawyer looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and forward‑thinking environment.
