Job Title: Plater Location: Barrow-in-Furness Contract: 12-Month Contract Sector: Defence / Submarine Manufacturing Pay Rates (PAYE, candidates living 39+ miles from site) Standard: £28.10/hr (£32.19 inc. hol) | 3 on/4 off: £32.12/hr (£36.79 inc. hol) | Nights: £34.73/hr (£39.78 inc. hol) OT Weekday/Sat: £32.65/hr inc. hol | OT Sunday: £43.54/hr inc. hol Umbrella rates: Standard £37.75/hr | 3 on/4 off £43.07/hr | Nights £46.52/hr | OT Weekday/Sat £38.68/hr | OT Sunday £51.25/hr The Opportunity We're recruiting experienced Platers to join BAE Systems in Barrow-in-Furness, supporting the building of the latest generation of submarines across the Astute and Dreadnought programmes. You'll be working as part of a specialist team contributing to some of the UK's most complex and high-profile defence projects, with attractive rates available for both local and commuting candidates. What You'll Be Doing Fabrication, assembly and installation of steelwork, structural and composite components Manufacture and pre-fabrication of steel structures and associated items Working from engineering drawings and technical specifications Supporting safe and efficient production activities Maintaining quality standards within a highly regulated environment What You'll Need Previous plating, fabrication or shipbuilding experience Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings Experience working with steel structures Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Experience within marine, defence, heavy engineering or manufacturing environments is advantageous Why Apply? 12-month contract on major defence programmes Opportunity to work on Astute and Dreadnought submarines Competitive rates and overtime opportunities Long-term project work within a leading engineering organisation Work as part of a highly skilled manufacturing team What's My Next Step?
