Practice Education Facilitator

Job summary

Are you passionate about supporting, developing and inspiring the maternity workforce? We are seeking a motivated and forward-thinking Practice Education Facilitator to join our maternity team and play a key role in strengthening clinical education, supporting staff development and enhancing the experience of women, birthing people and families.

In this exciting role, you will:

Maintain professional accountability by upholding the standards of practice set by the relevant regulatory body for your profession, ensuring safe, evidence-based and compassionate care.

Work collaboratively with Senior Midwives to identify training needs and shape high-quality education programmes. This includes leading on Midwife induction, supporting delivery of the Preceptorship programme, and coordinating ongoing clinical and professional development opportunities for nursing and midwifery staff.

Take responsibility for key areas of impact, including:

Ensuring safe and effective clinical practice through high-quality training, coaching and support

Enhancing the experience of women, birthing people and families by promoting excellence in communication, compassion and personalised care

Contributing to organisational objectives by supporting a skilled, confident and well-prepared workforce

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic practitioner who enjoys teaching, mentoring and working collaboratively across the maternity service.

Main duties of the job

To ensure safe and effective clinical/educational practice.

To work within an educational environment. Supporting and reinforcing the values and standards of compassion and respect in care, demonstrating analysis and decision-making skills. Supporting in the delivery of educational sessions to qualified nurses/midwives, providing a clinically and educationally excellent, high-quality service which will influence and facilitate change within the organisation.

Ensure a high standard of care and record keeping in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Council, Health and Care Professions Council, national legislation, and local standards.

To work with other departments within the Trust to facilitate learning to support service developments and to support staff in practice who are subject to capability/competence processes.

Demonstrate a specialist level of knowledge, skill and understanding of clinical practice standards within the Trust.

Work alongside clinical staff, promoting best practice, providing support and education, facilitating a learning environment and development of staff to meet local requirements.

Participate in supporting a culture of protecting patients from harm and deprivation of basic rights ensuring a safe and effective service with continuous quality improvement.

Contributes to managing changes and improvement through the use of audit, staff/student feedback and reflection on practice by self and other members of the team.
