Job summary

We are seeking a versatile and organised individual to join our practice in a hybrid role combining phlebotomy services and related admin,medical reception and GP administration. In this multifaceted role you will be the face of our clinic, ensuring excellent patient care from front-desk reception to clinical blood collection and back-office administrative support.

Main duties of the job

Patient Reception & Customer Service

  • Welcoming patients and checking them in for appointments.
  • Answering phone calls, managing inquiries, and booking appointments.
  • Managing the patient waiting area and maintaining a professional environment.

GP Administration

  • Processing patient registrations, referrals, and medical records.
  • Handling incoming clinical post, emails, and electronic tasks.
  • Utilizing medical software (e.g., EMIS Web, SystmOne) to update patient files.
  • Liaising with hospitals, pharmacies, and external healthcare providers.

    Phlebotomy Duties

    • Performing venepuncture for adult only patients.
    • Correctly labelling, logging, and prepping blood samples for laboratory transport.
    • Maintaining clinical hygiene, infection control, and strict safety standards.
    • Managing clinic stock levels for phlebotomy consumables and other practice consumables
    • Monitoring & recording of water temperatures and clinical fridge temperatures

We have a patient list size of just under 9000 with a diverse and rewarding demographic.

Our Team consists of 3 Partners, 3 Salaried GPs, an ANP, 2 Practice Nurses, HCAs & Phlebotomists with dedicated on-site FCPs. We also have a very experienced and committed team of receptionists and administrators.

We use clinical system EMIS Web alongside Accurx and Docman to streamline workflows.

Located near to Hampton Court Palace the practice is easily accessible via the M25 and also direct rail links to London from Hampton Court Station. Person specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to GCSE level minimum
  • Certified and well experienced in Phlebotomy (Venepuncture).
  • Fully understanding of Infection, Prevention& Control (IPC).
  • Certificates of qualification and training will be required at interview.
  • Exceptional communication skills and an empathetic patient manner.
  • High level of administrative accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced medical environment.
  • Strong IT literacy.

Desirable

  • Qualified to NVQ level 2 in Health and Social Care
  • Previous experience working within a GP practice or NHS environment.
  • Proficiency with GP clinical systems .
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and confidentiality protocols (GDPR).

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working within a nursing team
  • Experience of a clinical environment

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a GP practice
