Ampere Recruitment is partnering with a well-funded start-up developing next-generation power electronics for grid-connected applications. They're looking for a
Principal Power Electronics Engineer
to own hardware development end-to-end, shaping the architecture and direction of their core technology. What you will do Lead architecture, design, and development of power conversion systems (AC-DC, DC-DC, AC-AC), including high-frequency, high-power topologies, mixed-signal circuits, PCB layout, and EMI/EMC compliance. Own system-level validation: test planning, verification, certification, root-cause analysis, and lab bring-up. Act as Technical Lead
define system architecture and technology trade-offs, drive decisions across topologies, control strategies and magnetics, and lead design reviews and mentoring. Maintain engineering documentation and contribute to technical presentations and customer-facing material. What you will need Degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering or equivalent, with end-to-end product development experience from concept to commercialisation. Strong track record designing high-voltage, high-power converters, with deep knowledge of topologies such as CHB, LLC, DAB, MMC in grid-connected systems. Proficiency in SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink, and Altium (or equivalent), plus hands-on lab testing with oscilloscopes, power analysers, and grid simulators. Experience designing for manufacturability, reliability, and compliance in production. Demonstrated technical leadership and strong cross-team communication; willing to travel nationally and internationally. It would be useful to have Experience with PCS, EV chargers, SST, HVDC/STATCOM, or MV VFDs. CE/UL/TUV certification experience with external bodies. Knowledge of grid synchronisation, protection, and stability, plus volume manufacturing and energy storage/renewable integration exposure. Benefits Employee Option Plan
