In close collaboration with leading customers across the globe, our expert teams of physicists, engineers, data scientists and problem-solvers design solutions that move the world forward.Job Description/Preferred QualificationsKLA Instruments is hiring a Product Development Engineer with experience in optics and optical metrology to support the development of advanced inspection and metrology products for scientific and semiconductor manufacturing. Be part of truly global team with collaboration with product development teams based in California, USA, Michigan, USA, Chennai, India. We are looking for engineers/technologists to start our advanced technology group in our state of the art facilities based in Newport, Wales.This role will involve requirements analysis, system design and testing of complex systems using expertise from multiple technical disciplines.The successful candidate will contribute to the design, integration, testing, and validation of precision mechanical and opto mechanical subsystems, supporting products from early development through release to manufacturing and sustaining support.Work with marketing and engineering teams to define system architecture. Create and execute test plans to validate system performance.Subsystem design/development, system integration, test and characterisationIdentify program and technical risks throughout the life cycle of the product. Establish mitigation plans to reduce and retire risks.Support internal and external customers in implementing processes to build and use the tool effectively and solve intricate problems to optimise tool performance.Be a creative problem solver with a proven track record of solving complex technical issues.A strong background in engineering or physical science and demonstrated analysis and problem-solving skillsStrong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills in optics, opto-mechanics, and motion control systemsAn understanding of Optical, Electromechanical and Software systems and their interactions in the context of complex industrial equipment is a plus.Familiarity with scientific and statistical analysis tools and SW tools such as Matlab, and JMP is beneficial.Experience with scripting languages, such as Python and/or LabViewEnthusiastic communicator to solve problems for internal and external customers.Familiarity with Ellipsometry/ microscopy/Interferometry and image analysis methods is a plus.KLA's benefits package includes:Annual leave starting at 25 days (plus bank holidays), contributory pension scheme, cash health plan, cycle to work scheme, global bonus plan, share scheme, rewards scheme and life assurance!Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experienceWe offer a competitive, family friendly total rewards package.
