06:00 About the Role Are you an experienced, hands-on Interim Shift Manager who excels at both day-to-day team leadership and driving continuous improvement on the factory floor? We are an established manufacturing business based in Redditch (~100 staff), seeking strong operational leaders on an interim basis. Reporting directly to the Production Manager, you will take total ownership of manufacturing output on your assigned shift. Beyond day-to-day operations, you will play a crucial role in shaping the sites future efficiency by assisting with process improvement initiatives and factory layout optimization projects. Key Responsibilities: Shift Operations & Output:
Manage all shop-floor manufacturing activities during shift to ensure target volume and productivity KPIs are met. Health & Safety Lead:
Drive a zero-harm culture, enforce site safety standards, conduct risk assessments, and maintain compliance. Staff Leadership & Management:
Motivate, supervise, and coordinate a small, dedicated production team on shift, addressing performance and attendance as needed. Quality Assurance:
Ensure all products adhere strictly to quality standards and customer specifications, driving root-cause action on defects. Continuous Improvement & Projects:
Support site-wide CI projects, including floor re-layout strategies, workflow optimization, and waste reduction. Requirements: Proven track record in shift management / production leadership within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. IOSH Managing Safely
qualification (or equivalent H&S accreditation). Lean Manufacturing accreditation
(e.g., Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or equivalent CI qualification). Demonstrated experience with continuous improvement tools, 5S implementation, and factory layout projects. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to hit the ground running.
