Wolviston Management Services are supporting Whessoe Engineering Limited in the recruitment of an experienced Project Planner to join its team in Darlington.
Whessoe Engineering Limited is a respected engineering and project delivery business specialising in the design, fabrication and construction of bulk liquid storage terminals, process plants, energy facilities and associated infrastructure.
This is an excellent opportunity to support a portfolio of UK and international engineering and construction projects, working closely with Project Managers and teams across engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction and commercial functions.
The role
You will develop, maintain and manage integrated project schedules using Primavera P6, providing clear visibility of project progress, programme risks and critical activities.
Key responsibilities
◆ Develop, maintain and update detailed project schedules using Primavera P6
◆ Establish project baselines and monitor performance against agreed milestones
◆ Coordinate with engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction teams to produce realistic and achievable programmes
◆ Monitor project progress and report on schedule status, critical paths and key deliverables
◆ Identify potential delays, risks and opportunities, recommending appropriate mitigation or recovery plans
◆ Produce weekly and monthly planning reports for project teams and senior management
◆ Support resource planning, forecasting, programme optimisation, earned value analysis and project performance measurement
About you
◆ Proven experience in a Project Planner role within an engineering, construction, energy, process, petrochemical or industrial environment
◆ Advanced working knowledge of Primavera P6
◆ Experience developing and maintaining schedules throughout the full project lifecycle
◆ A sound understanding of engineering design, procurement, fabrication and construction processes
◆ Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify schedule risks and recovery opportunities
◆ Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills
◆ Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
An HNC, HND or degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Controls or a related discipline would be advantageous. Experience within an EPC or EPCM environment, knowledge of earned value management, and experience of storage tank, terminal, energy or process plant projects would also be beneficial.
