Quality Inspector (Metal Components & Precision Engineering) Location: London SE1 Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 + Benefits Job Type: Permanent The Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quality Inspector to join a growing advanced manufacturing business. This role is ideally suited to someone with a strong background inspecting metallic components, including machined, fabricated, welded, cast, or precision-engineered parts. Working within a high-specification manufacturing environment, you will be responsible for ensuring that metal components and assemblies meet customer, engineering, and regulatory requirements through rigorous inspection, measurement, and quality control processes. Key Responsibilities Conduct first-off, in-process and final inspection of metallic components and assemblies. Inspect machined, fabricated, welded and finished metal products against engineering drawings and specifications. Verify dimensional accuracy, tolerances, surface finishes, and material conformity. Perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections using precision metrology equipment. Review material certificates, inspection records and traceability documentation. Raise and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs). Support root cause investigations and corrective actions. Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to resolve quality issues. Maintain accurate quality documentation and inspection records. Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and customer-specific quality requirements. Support internal and external quality audits.Essential Experience Proven experience as a Quality Inspector within: Metal fabrication CNC machining Precision engineering Aerospace manufacturing Defence manufacturing Industrial manufacturing Experience inspecting metallic components manufactured from materials such as: Aluminium Stainless steel Carbon steel Titanium Nickel alloys Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T. Strong understanding of manufacturing tolerances and geometric measurement. Experience using: Micrometers Vernier calipers Height gauges Bore gauges Surface finish measurement equipment Thread gaugesDesirable Experience CMM operation and programming. Welding inspection experience. Knowledge of AS9100 quality systems. Understanding of metallurgy and material specifications. Experience producing FAIR documentation. Background within aerospace, defence, energy, automotive or motorsport sectors.Ideal Candidate You'll be a detail-oriented quality professional with a passion for precision engineering and a strong understanding of metal component manufacturing processes. You will be comfortable working with complex parts, tight tolerances, and demanding customer quality standards while demonstrating a proactive, hands-on approach to problem solving
