Kenton Black are seeking a permanent Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their client's expanding team in Dundee.
The company, a well-established and highly regarded civil engineering and infrastructure contractor, is looking to appoint a proactive Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects across Scotland. This role offers an excellent opportunity to join a growing business, working closely with operational teams to ensure projects are delivered profitably, efficiently and in line with contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the commercial aspects of multiple civil engineering and infrastructure projects from inception through to final account.
- Prepare, submit and negotiate interim valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
- Monitor project costs, budgets and forecasts, ensuring accurate financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
- Procure and manage subcontractors, including preparing subcontract documentation, valuations and payments.
- Identify, value and agree variations, compensation events and contractual entitlements.
- Support project teams with commercial advice, risk management and contract administration.
- Maintain accurate cost records and provide regular financial updates to senior management.
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery.
- Assist in managing cash flow, cost control and profitability across projects.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company commercial procedures.
What You Bring
- Degree qualified or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
- 5+ years experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the civil engineering, infrastructure or construction sectors.
- Good understanding of standard forms of contract including NEC and JCT.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage project budgets and maximise project profitability.
- Experience in subcontractor procurement, valuation and account management.
- Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities, with confidence liaising at all levels.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with experience using commercial management systems advantageous.
- Full UK driving licence.
