Quantity Surveyor
The Role
Our client is seeking a motivated and commercially focused Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team. The successful candidate will play a key role in the commercial management of construction projects, ensuring effective cost control, accurate valuations, and strong supplier and subcontractor relationships throughout the project life-cycle.
Key Responsibilities
Review construction drawings and specifications to identify labour, materials, plant and specialist subcontractor requirements. Prepare tender enquiries and obtain competitive quotations from suppliers and subcontractors. Negotiate costs, rates and terms with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure projects are delivered within budget. Prepare subcontractor valuations and manage accounts through to final account settlement. Produce and submit monthly valuations, including the assessment and recording of variations and additional works. Liaise directly with clients, consultants and project stakeholders to agree rates, variations and cost analyses. Measure completed works in accordance with contract schedules of rates. Prepare and submit interim valuations and final accounts within agreed timescales. Work closely with project management and finance teams to ensure robust commercial control and maximise project profitability. Produce accurate monthly cost reports and contribute to management and client progress meetings. Attend site visits and project progress meetings as required.
Candidate Requirements
Degree qualified in
Quantity Surveying, Construction Management
or a related discipline is preferred. Candidates with an
HND/HNC qualification
and relevant industry experience will also be considered. Minimum of
2 years' experience
in a Quantity Surveying or Estimating role within a main contracting environment. Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify opportunities and manage project costs effectively. Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the confidence to engage with clients, subcontractors and suppliers. Self-motivated and capable of working independently whilst contributing positively within a team environment. Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including
Excel, Word, Outlook and Project .
