We are working with a well-established civil engineering and groundworks contractor who are looking to add an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to their commercial team.
The business has a strong reputation across the North of England and delivers a range of civil engineering, earthworks, groundworks, remediation, structures and drainage projects.
They have a strong order book and are continuing to grow, making this a good opportunity for an experienced QS who wants to take genuine ownership of projects and work closely with the operational team.
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll take commercial responsibility for a portfolio of civil engineering and groundworks projects, working closely with the Project Managers, Site Teams and senior management.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing projects commercially from contract award through to final account
Cost control, forecasting and monthly CVRs
Managing project budgets and commercial performance
Subcontract procurement and subcontractor management
Preparing valuations, applications for payment and final accounts
Identifying, pricing and agreeing variations and compensation events
Managing commercial risk and opportunities
Contract administration and commercial reporting
Reviewing project costs and providing accurate financial forecasts
Working closely with Project Managers and Site Teams to maximise project performance
Supporting the Estimating team with tender reviews and handovers
Maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
Supporting and mentoring junior members of the commercial team
About You
I'm looking for someone with a strong civil engineering, groundworks or construction background who is comfortable taking commercial ownership of projects.
You'll ideally have:
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor
Experience within civil engineering, groundworks, earthworks or infrastructure
Strong commercial and contractual knowledge
Experience with NEC3 / NEC4 and/or JCT contracts
Experience managing subcontractors and variations
Good understanding of cost control, forecasting, CVRs and final accounts
Strong Excel and commercial reporting skills
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
A relevant Quantity Surveying / Commercial qualification is desirable
