Quantity Surveyor

Quantity Surveyor | Colchester | up to £52,000| 25 days holiday plus bank holidays + Company car We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a dynamic project team on the outskirts of Colchester. This role offers hands-on involvement throughout the full project lifecycle, from cost estimation and tendering to financial oversight, site liaison, and project completion. With a focus on accuracy, value for money, and practical solutions, you'll play a key role in ensuring engineering projects are delivered on time and on budget. The Role As a Quantity Surveyor, you will: Prepare accurate cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), and tender documentation Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis to support project viability Monitor budgets, project cash flow, and financial performance throughout the lifecycle Advise on contracts, claims, disputes, and commercial terms with contractors and suppliers Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to maintain financial control Visit sites across the UK to review progress and provide cost guidance Champion innovation by supporting the development of financial tools and processes Person Specification Essential: Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management, RICS/CIOB accredited or working towards Proven experience in UK construction projects, cost control, and reporting Knowledge of NEC, JCT, or FIDIC contracts Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities Right to work permanently in the UK Desirable: Experience in large capital programs or complex infrastructure projects Advanced skills in data analysis and cost forecasting Experience mentoring junior QS staff Benefits: 25 days holiday + bank holidays Company car or car allowance Pension and wellbeing initiatives Career development and role-specific training Opportunities for on-site and client-facing experience If you're a commercially minded Quantity Surveyor looking to take ownership of projects, influence financial decision-making, and deliver measurable value, we want to hear from you. #Tier1
