Where will you be working?


At M Group Energy, were enabling the energy essential to support our lives.


We provide an end-to-end service, delivering solutions in electricity transmission, distribution, renewable energy, EV, metering and home decarbonisation.


This role will be within our Transmission & Renewables team. We design, build and commission substations at voltages up to and including 400kV. Our teams construct and maintain transmission lines and substations, ensuring the efficient and reliable delivery of electricity.

What will you be doing?


Are you keen to work on a major infrastructure project in a fast-paced, hands-on environment with a solid team? As a Quantity Surveyor, youll support the team and help keep things running smoothly on our SSE Overhead Lines project in Aberdeen.
  • Help prepare reports and claims on time with accurate info

Support commercial systems on-site and build strong relationships with project teams

Keep an eye on project risks and update documentation as needed

Manage subcontractors and suppliers - quotes, contracts, monthly checks, and final accounts

Grow your knowledge of commercial practices and contract law

Suggest smarter ways to improve accuracy and cut down on admin time

Work closely with Commercial Managers and Quantity Surveyors to keep things covered

Spot opportunities to recover costs and boost project profits

Help produce monthly financial reports and forecasts

Build solid negotiation skills

Join handover and progress meetings when needed

Help create site manuals and track variations

Follow company policies and contribute to health, safety, quality, and environmental standards

Be flexible - pitch in wherever needed to support the team and meet customer needs


What youll bring

  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills

Sharp analytical thinking and solid financial awareness

Confident with IT tools - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and more

Knowledge of contract costing and contract law

Background in Quantity Surveying or Cost Clerk roles

Hands-on experience with site records, variations, valuations, and supporting project teams

Skilled in subcontractor management and cost/value reconciliation

Qualified in Quantity Surveying or graduate calibre

Full UK driving license willingness to travel across the area
