Our client is an established rail infrastructure consultancy delivering specialist survey support across the UK, from topographical data capture to complex rail projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a practical Surveyor with a valid PTS to develop rail expertise under an experienced Lead Surveyor.
The Role
Working in a two-person team alongside a Lead Surveyor based in Doncaster you will travel from home to sites nationwide, mainly along Eastern and East Midlands routes. Projects can involve Monday to Thursday nights away from home.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Lead Surveyor with topographical, railway, gauging, land and OLE surveys.
Collect accurate site data, undertake setting-out and survey-monitoring activities, and produce survey data promptly.
Operate, maintain and calibrate survey equipment.
Follow Network Rail standards, SHEQ procedures and relevant site risk controls.
What We're Looking For
Essential
A valid PTS competency and full UK driving licence.
At least one year's rail-surveying experience, or at least two years' relevant non-rail surveying experience.
Hands-on topographical or detailed survey experience and a strong focus on accuracy and safety.
Flexibility to travel nationwide, work away from home when projects require it and take part in available Saturday-night overtime.
Desirable
Trimble equipment experience is preferred; familiarity with Total Stations, GNSS/GPS, laser scanning or survey-processing software is advantageous.
Rail, P-Way, OLE, gauging, AutoCAD or MicroStation experience is beneficial, but not essential where transferable survey skills are strong.
COSS is desirable, but not essential. The company will support further competence development.

40-hour working week, Monday to Friday, with Saturday-night overtime available every week at time and a half.
