Job summary
We are looking to appoint a new full time admin/receptionist. As a member of the admin team your input to our practice team and our patients will be important. You will be integral to the delivery of high-quality patient care for our patients.
Candidates must be flexible as cover may be required to cover annual leave for other members of the team.

Main duties of the job
You would be part of a team of admin and will provide admin and receptionist support for clinicians and patients.
About us
We are a friendly and supportive practice in the heart of Royston.
We have a clinical team of 2 GP partners, 2 nurses and a phlebotomist. You will also be fully supported by the practice manager, assistant practice manager and 8 members of the admin/reception team.
We are also supported by a community midwife, clinical pharmacist and a prescribing technician.
Job responsibilities
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1 To receive and direct patients and other professionals in a courteous and efficient manner.
2 To operate the telephone system
3 To make appointments on the computerized system.
4 To deal with enquiries from patients and other professionals.
5 To process computerized repeat prescriptions in the prescribed manner.
6 To record messages and requests for home visits on the computer in the prescribed manner.
7 To open and process mail
8 To file correspondence and medical records and to extract same as appropriate.
9 To generate and issue standard computerized letters.
10 To input and extract data from the computerized medical system
11 Photocopying documents
12 To process patient hospital referrals on an online booking system
13 To cover for absent colleagues
14 Liaise with patients, hospitals and chemists as requested by the Gps
15 Supporting and assisting the Doctors during surgery times as required
16 Liaising with secondary care providers and arranging transport as necessary.
17 liaise with attached staff, including health visitors, district nurses, midwives, counsellors etc
18 Any other task required by the Gp or practice manager.
19 Be able to send and receive emails.
Duties could possibly be amended due to the changing needs of the Practice and NHS healthcare.

Qualifications
Essential
- Essential Criteria
- 4 GCSEs at grade C or above including English or 3 years experience in an office environment
- Keyboard Skills
- Experience of using Microsoft Excel
- Experience of Microsoft Word
- Experience of using Microsoft Outlook for email
- Previous clerical experience
- Good Communicator
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent listening skills
- Reliable and Good attendance record
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
- Ability to work with attention to detail and accuracy
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and GDPR
- Prepared to work flexible hours in accordance with the practice needs. Practice opening times are 8am-6.30pm

Desirable
- Previous experience of working with the public in a healthcare environment.
- Ability to use Systmone medical system
- Scanning and document imaging training will be given
